Import/Export Contacts

Q:  How do I import addresses?
A:  Log into Eventstribe and click on My Eventstribe then My Address Book. Click Import Addresses from the Address book choices. You will be able to import addresses from the following places: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Palm Desktop, Eudora, Yahoo! Mail, Excite Mail, and Lycos MallCity. Click on the appropriate one of these links, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Q:  How do I import from Microsoft Excel?
A:  To import to the Eventstribe Address Book from Excel, first export the Address Book as a CSV file. Open up the CSV file with Excel or another spreadsheet program. Next, delete all columns in Excel except for: First Name, Last Name, Full Name, Nickname, and Email Address. The columns in Excel must be in this exact order with these exact titles:
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Name
  • NickName
  • E-mail Address
If you do not have information for any of the columns listed above, you will have to create a blank column in its place in Excel. Finally, open the Import feature in the Eventstribe Address Book and import your CSV file as an Outlook Express import.

Q:  How do I export addresses?
A:  You cannot export addresses from your Eventstribe Address Book, but you can export addresses from an Eventstribe that you have organized to your Eventstribe Address Book. If you are the event host/organizer you can go to the Eventstribe and click on Export Guest List. This will download guest list data in comma-separated format (.cvs) that can be opened by Microsoft Excel and most other spreadsheet programs. The spreadsheet will have all the names listed with the following additional info. in columns: Email Address, Date Responded, Status (attending), # of guests, and Comments.

Q:  Where is the Intellisync Palm Pilot Installer import link in the Address Book?
A:  We have temporarily removed the Palm Pilot Installer link due to technical issues. It will be coming back soon.

Add/Remove Contacts

Q:  How do I add someone to my Address Book?
A:  To add a guest to your Address Book, first log into your Eventstribe account and go to My Address Book under the heading Add Another Contact. Enter the person's first name, last name, email/phone number, and then press the Add button. If you want to add more detail when entering a new person, click on the link at the top of the page that says Add A Contact. This will bring up a screen where you can enter all the basics plus additional information, and make sure you click Save when you are done.

Q:  How do I delete someone from my Address Book?
A:  Log into your Eventstribe account, click on My Eventstribe, and then My Address Book. You cannot be in the Creation process of an Eventstribe. In My Address Book, there is a trashcan icon on the right of every contact. When you click on it, a confirmation screen will come up to make sure you want to delete it. Click Ok and it will be deleted

Q:  What do the Pencil and Trash Can icons mean?
A:  The Pencil icon means Edit- click on this if you want to change or update a person's information. The Trashcan icon means Delete - click on this if you want to remove a person from your Address Book.

Creating and Editing Groups

Q:  Can I still create a group even if I don't have an Eventstribe?
A:  Yes, to set up a group from scratch, first log into your Eventstribe Account and then go to the My Address tab. Click on the Create A Group link (third from the left). You can now add people to the group from the box labeled Your Addresses by clicking on them to select them (Shift+click to select multiple names at once), and then click the yellow button that says Add to Group. You can also type in addresses by hand in the box on the left that is titled Add Other Addresses Here. After you type them in then click on the yellow button that also says Add to Group. If you want to remove any name from the group, select that name from the box on the right that is titled Addresses in Groups and click the yellow button that says Remove from Group. When you are ready to save this group, enter a name into the box that says Group Name and click the Save button.

Q:  How do I edit a group?
A:  This must be done from My Address Book under My Eventstribe, not from the Address Book you access while you're creating your Eventstribe. To see all your groups, click on the link that says Groups that is to the right of all the letters of the alphabet in the light blue section above your Address Book. Once you have clicked Groups, all the groups you have in your Address Book will be displayed. To edit that group, click on the Pencil icon to the right of the group name. The Pencil icon is under the column that is labeled Edit. This will take you to the Edit Screen, and it will say so at the very top.

You can now edit that address group in the following ways - you can rename it, add members to it, and delete members from it. To rename it, simply type the new name in the box titled Group Name. You can now add people to that group from the box labeled Your Addresses by clicking on them to select them (Shift+click to select multiple names at once), and then click the yellow button that says Add to Group. You can also type in addresses by hand in the box on the left that is titled Add Other Addresses Here. After you type them in, then click on the yellow button that also says Add to Group.

If you want to remove any name from the group, select that name from the box on the right that is titled Addresses in Groups, and then click the yellow button that says Remove from Group. When you are ready to save your changes to this group, click the Save button.

Address Error

Q:  Why do I sometimes get a 'Session Timed Out' error while using the Address Book?
A:  This is known error that we are fixing. Please try refreshing your browser window, and right click on the page and select Refresh or close the window and try again.

Outlook Calendar

Q:  Can I add my Eventstribe to my Outlook calendar?
A:  Currently, you cannot add your Eventstribe calendar if you are using Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Microsoft Office.
